It is hard to see how the RCMP chief can survive much longer. Nobody seems to be defending him, at least not in public. The government has put out pro-forma support statements, but that's about it.
If the Bush administration public discloses what the RCMP told them prior to Arar's rendition, it could get even murkier for the Commish. |

Indeed... It may be in the best interest of the force(and the government) if he steps down...
But then the liberals will just whine about "patronage pork" when they assign someone else (and they'll probably do it loudest from their senate and supreme court seats)

Unless the Conservatives break from tradition completely, the next RCMP Commissionaire will be selected from the commissioned ranks of the Mounties so any talk of patronage would be ridiculous.

Orders from the top too investigate government during an election is very suspicious. That Zac unknowingly allowed people below him to commit crimes is unfortunate, but I think he will deliver heads on a platter real soon. If he doesn't he will probably be replaced after the future liberal victory.
The Arar scandal ..the election liberal investigation setup...the rapeing of under age girls by mountie(s)...the mountie pedophile...the execution style killing of a high school kid in custody by a mountie....something is beginning to stink in the stables of power...and nowadays a few bad apples=extinction.
Maybe he'll stand in the face of tory control and domination by the US and deliver some Canadian justice.Hope he does it during the next election. 8)
As turn about is fair play :D
All this and I still have faith in the rcmp  |
