I don't know if the players ever will adjust. Some players want a cup; these players have always been willing to take a pay cut to play on a winning squad. Other players want more money every year; these guys will always sign short contracts and play well in contract years.
Other situations: sometimes a player/team/coach combination just doesn't work, and players need to move on. On that note, it looks like Lindros may have finally found a home. Can you imagine if Philly had simply kept Forsberg? I think the whole history of the league would have been different these last 10 years. Colorado would have no cups, and Philly might have some.
