During my many discussions/debates with people about climate change I have often been asked specific questions about how the cosmic particle theory works along with other questions about the history of climate change. I got a bit tired of having to admit I didn't know the scientific details, so some education was in order.

I read a few published papers and websites which gave me some info but it wasn't until I read "The Chilling Stars - A New Theory of Climate Change" that the whole theory presented in The Great Global Warming Swindle finally came together.

This book explains how scientists determine when the earth was ice covered and what the cosmic particle intensity was throughout the history of the planet. It covers how the sun's activity affects cosmic particles and even walks you through the reactions that occur in the low atmosphere (in detail at the atomic level) that create clouds. For those people who want more detail about this theory than the "Swindle" provided, it's a Must Read. A very basic understanding of chemistry is helpful in a few parts.

The book was written by Nigel Calder who is the science writer who appeared in TGGWS film. The scientific input was provided by Henrik Svensmark. The work of many other scientists was pulled together to cement the theory. If you've seen TGGWS you will recognize a couple of these names too.

I've just finished the book and will be reading it again as there is so much to absorb. It's a well written history and explanation of our Earth's climate.

Thanks for the review. I'll throw that on my "things to buy Dad for Christmas" list for the kids.
