Has Dion effectively killed the Liberal Party in Quebec?

Quote:
With a federal election campaign possibly only days away, the federal Liberal party has just lost two of the key people responsible for ensuring it can fight a campaign in Quebec.

Marcil's departure leaves the Quebec wing without a director-general, just as the party is searching for a national director to replace Jamie Carroll, who quit amid controversy over remarks many members of the party's Quebec wing felt treated Quebec francophones as just another ethnic minority.

News of Marcil's departure came only 24 hours after Hull-Aylmer MP Marcel Proulx handed in his resignation as the Liberals' political lieutenant for Quebec.

I agree that the liberal brand in Quebec is definitely in serious trouble but persuading Marc Garneau to run in Westmount will definitely help them.

Honestly, I think that too much was made over Garneau in and of himself. He was part of a larger epidemic of a problem for Dion, so getting him back stops the bleeding a bit, but it's not like Garneau himself is a sure bet to win an election.

He's already lost before.

I agree with what I heard one guy on the internet said (but I forget who)... "Garneau is bigger outside of Quebec than he is in Quebec. Quebecers don't care about the astronaut background as much as other Canadians do."
