Too bad Harper couldn't have done the same with Michael Fortier. It would have given him a lot more credibility on the issue of an elected senate. |
Being the first PM to ever support and actually initiate elected senators is enough credibility for me. Until I have a better option on this front, Harper gets all my elected senator points. |

I thought they were going to wait 4-5 years before taking the GST to 5%.
They gonna go ahead now? |

My thoughts so far: the big single crime bill is a daring move. coupled with mention of young offenders this might not go down well with the liberals.
Kyoto burial: masterpiece. Free trade in emissions and more ambitious targets: great ising on the cake!
Security certificates: if it's what I think, then an attempt to introduce that kind of legislation is a poison pill.
I missed the mention of the visual identification of voters... Harper stepped on a rake during that scandal, why would it make its way into the throne speech?
product quality and safety standards - an improvement to health and safety rules is in order.
I think this throne speech is a gamble. But as a newbie I might be quite mistaken. |

| I don't think that I can support a carbon trading ponzi scheme. |

| well if the purpose of corporations is turning a profit then the demand for carbon emission rights will be sky high, and running greener than expected would be very profitable and will act more a stimulus than any Al Gore film whatsoever.... |

| The carbon credits will most likely come from China, where they will be manufactured out of thin air and sold to the West. How is any of that going to reduce emissions? All it does it raise the cost of doing business. |

| You lost me there... China unloads tons of carbon into the world's air, how can any credit come from there? Rather China would be buying the credits just like it buys the world's oil supplies making prices skyrocket. |
