Well as we know in the U.S.A. the grassroots of the Republican party are the South and Midwest.

The Dems rake in the votes in New England and the Pacific Coast.

Where do you pin the CPC generally?

I have always believe the CPC grassroot province is Alberta.

Its Texas North. Its been PC for 30 years now, and Social Cred. before that.

But generally I say the "west" is the CPC grassroots.

In BC:

Outside of Vancouver urban center, we do well in the city suberbs and across the interior.

Alberta: We do well all over the place here

Saskatchewan: last election we had every seat in SK except 2. And one of those 2 wee came about 100 votes from taking, and the other belonged to the established Ralph Goodale.

Manitoba:

Is a CPC strong-hold too.

All of Rural Manitoba is basically like Alberta going blue all the time. Winnipeg is divided between CPC and Libs/NDP. The CPC takes a couple in Wpg. each time (eg. Stephen Fletcher).

So do you agree? Is the West the CPC strong hold of Canada?

Is the growing population in the West good or bad for us?

I agree and it is the strength of this party. it is also good for the party as the west will get 12 seats extra in 2010.

You could say that Rural Ontario is a stronghold too(last 2 elections since the parties combined).

I beleive the West imho is the stronghold for CPC support the Tories should focus on keeping their support base there and adding a few seats in Quebec. Leave the Martime Provinces out since they have a Blame everything on Ottawa attiude and a cult of Personality sydrome in that region.

I couldn't care 2 sh*ts about the Maritimes voting Blue.

They are stuck on the mother's milk of Ottawa and refuse to be released.

I also see a growing support for CPC here in Toronto but this place is not going to be a Tory power house for years and years to come.

I guess western Canada is "da place".
