I was just wondering what everyone thought about the ontario green party..I've always voted conservative in past elections & am a card holding member of the Ontario Pc's , but i'm sort of thinking the greens have some good ideas.

You drive a car?

The Ont. Greens are proposing an 8 cent tax on gasoline.

The only Green Party I could have ever voted for was led by one Jim Harris.

But in turn they're lowering the income tax which benefits all, not just drivers. I'd rather have higher gas taxes and lower income taxes thank you. I can choose to drive less or buy a more efficient car but I can't do anything to escape income tax.

I'd rather have a rollback of the $900 health tax

Carbon tax would result in a lot higher increase than the Green party is admitting. So Diesel goes up 8 cents a liter say. What kid of trucks deliver groceries to your local market? Does an increase in the price of fuel get passed on to the grocery store? Who ends up paying?

Answer some of these questions, and Green policy does not look good anymore.

What i don't get is why our government continues to subsidize truckers. We pay tonnes of money to keep up the Highways their trucks destroy but we give nothing to CN and CP to upkeep their tracks. If this means a few truckers switch to rail delivery than i'd be more than happy.

Why would you waste your vote for the Greens? If you want to dump McGuinty then John Tory is the only way to go..

Environmental protection/stewardship is a superordinate goal that everyone cares about of course (well, either indifferent or cares about - nobody is "against" the environment)

However, when you connect environmentalism with power, power is attained at the expense of others... so there are winners and losers and people get *ahem* political about the environment (spin, half truths etc.)

Attacking Industry in the name of Mother Earth hurts anyone who is employed or buys groceries or any goods.

The Green's have some good ideas in the platform, I will never support a party builds the majority of its policy around a single issue.
