Okay, so he heads the conference. He was the environment minister at the time, and it was our turn. But what about the rest?

"They said he couldn't do it. But Dion wouldn't give up."

Who said he couldn't do what? It was an international conference organized by the UN. I'm sure there was a lot of paperwork and organization required, but what else?

"Dion brought 182 countries together to fight climate change."

Weren't they already together? That whole Kyoto thing I keep hearing about?

I was under the impression that a lot of countries criticised Dion and Canada's climate change record. Were they the ones who said he couldn't do it, but he wouldn't give up... even after the Liberals lost power?

Is there something I'm missing here? This makes no sense to me. Because it seems like the Liberals are planning on peoples' ignorance of the conference to allow Dion to take credit. But they wouldn't do that, would they?

The whole thing is social engineering by the Liberals again. I hope people will see right through this.

I don't know how clueless they really are. For years, they have been saying and doing stupid things, but they get away with it. I couldn't believe they maintained the level of support they did during the last election - everyone knew they were both corrupt and ineffective, yet they went into the election without any loss of support.

Here, they've managed to take something mundane like hosting a UN conference and make it seem like Dion saved the world. Against staggering opposition, no less. And I'm worried it might work. It seems like some people will take any excuse to vote Liberal. They've been convinced that voting Liberal is all it takes to be a good person.

Please keep the one-off throwaway ad hominems to a minimum.

Or, if you think that Dion lacks the intellect to be Prime Minister, I'd appreciate it if you elaborated on that point.

The fact that he thinks Global Warming must be the centrepiece of his political life and campaign goes to show how clueless he is.

I suppose the Liberals must at least try to make Dion look good before giving up on him as their leader... :)

Many Canadians will take Dion at his word. It's the same old story... by the time Dion's words are proved to be nonsense, they will have already voted for him and the Liberals.

Remember, folks, this is an uphill battle. The Liberals rely on the media and Canadians are accustomed to voting Liberal. The Conservatives must overcome this at the grass roots... word of mouth.

If the right have to take the message to the people; to our families and friends. Talk about climate change and the utter stupidity of Kyoto. Talk about socialism and how the Trudeau-topia dream almost bankrupt Canada. Talk about the culture of entitlement and the endemic corruption of the Liberals and how Dion was handpicked by Chretien.

You can't force people to change their minds but you can certainly make them think. Thinking is the antithesis of liberalism.

what a joke! when it suits you, you deny climate change and when it suits you you criticize dion for not having found the solution already.

be constructive, its much better for the world. everyone can criticize, but how many can actually help?

canadoattitude:

There are a variety of thoughts on climate change within this forum; don't be so fast to jump to conclusions.

Obviously you fail to miss the point; we criticize Dion because he claims to have done all these things to fight climate change. He claims he did such a good job; yet his own record speaks loudly and clearly against that. We may not all buy the "global warming science" as it is presented by the lobbyists, media and politicians... but we most certainly have the ability to see through this hypocrisy.

Our views and indeed the views of the PM and his party on climate change are completely irrelevent. What we are discussing is how Dion is claiming to be the savior of the environment, while in reality he allowed emissions that he so "vehemently fights to reduce" skyrocketed.

Take a moment to think about that...
