We should all be careful of our words. In looking at the index right now, we have 8 registered members viewing and 39 "guests" viewing. That's a ratio of almost 5 to 1 of unknown eyes reading your every word. Anyone want to take bets on how many of those sets of eyes are unfriendly ones?

edit: now it's 4 members and 44 guests...

What happens if they changed the structure so that only members could post and see the posts? This was also something that I have been taking a notice of lately as well.

Do you want Conservative Life numero deux? The viewership would go down, & membership numbers would decrease.

A ratio of registered users to guests such as the one you mentioned is about normal compared to what I usually saw on Conservative Life. No need to worry.

Only the first four forums can be read by non-members. Non-members can read the titles of forums 5-8 but they can't read the content.

So no permissions mask under the reading tab for "ALL USERS." What about confirmation for new members?

I would guess some of those are actually members. Often I will quickly scan the forums looking for something of interest without actually logging in.

You should let the non-members vote in the various polls too. I think that would suck some of them into joining and commenting. Clicking on the poll is easy, resisting the urge to explain your click is hard.

Just as long as the non members of the Blogging Tories do not get to see forum number 9. We can't have our little secret getting out.
