| ahhh, just received my card. Apparently there was a delay for the applications sent in November but at least it finally got here. |

Really? I paid for mine in november, got it just after the new year. I thought it seemed like quite a long wait.

Contact your local riding association (EDA) and ask them to check if you're a member. Secondly find out how organized they are.
If they're not very well organized then there might not be anybody to actually create and mail out newsletters.
Lastly, the party is very slow in getting membership cards out. It is quite common for people to only get cards 6-8 months after joining. |
I just got my card after renewing in December...quickest yet...one time it took me over a year for the card...
The ablity to call yourself a "card-carrying tory" is kinda neat...kinda makes some people look at you wierd...(remember, I'm from Hamilton)...there aren't many perks, but it does give you a sence of community.
Although, it does kinda depend on your riding association...the Hamilton Mountain EDA hasn't been doing much since the good ol' days of Duncan Beatty (our last tory MP...elected 30 years ago...). They don't answer many questions and there isn't much in the way of all ages friendly activites...the crowd that usually shows up is 65+...so for the few activities they do have, I kinda feel out of place...it would be nice if they did more...then we might have a chance of taking the Hammer back from the Socialists...sorry...NDP...

Yeah, My EDA can't even be bothered to update their webpage... :( I've offered to help them but it never seems to go anywhere..
Then again, this riding is probably seen as a permanent red seat. If I knew how to get more involved I would, but i'm left kind of scratching my head. |

I signed up with the Conservative Party in February 2007, and have yet to receive any acknowledgment from the Federal Party!
Kirk West (http://www.kirkwest.ca), the challenging candidate for the riding: Aurora-Newmarket in Ont. , met with me and signed us up, (my girlfriend & I), we intended to help him at the candidate nomination Mar. 3rd.
He says we are on a list, but I have not received anything that confirms that. However Lois Brown (http://www.loisbrown.ca), phoned trying to solicit our support, she said our names were on a list.
What's the problem here?
Should I go to the meeting?
Won't I need Identification to vote?
This is why I am always reluctant to get involved, If I am hardly being recognized now ... after the election I won't even be a memory! |

et tu?...my EDA just created their webpage...October actually...but it hasn't been updated or anything...
Thing is, we actually might have a chance of taking back this seat...the NDP is sliding faster then I've ever seen em go in the polls and the Liberal candidacy here might go to one of those "fly-in candidates, 33% women, must be more like the NDP" seats...but our taking Hamilton...well, that might just be wishful thinking...
I'd love to get involved...but they don't really talk to me...I think they don't love me...lol

It seems like the 2006 Candidate of Record will take it again. (Vincent Veeresanthram (sp?). However, he upset the 2004 Candidate of Record to become our candidate in 2005. |
