Obama: Clinton Didn't "Intentionally" Put America In Jeopardy; I Guarantee No Political Influence In Server Probe

President Obama is quizzed about the investigation by the FBI Justice Department into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private server and non-government e-mail address by FOX News' Chris Wallace on this week's edition of FOX News Sunday. In the interview, Wallace confronted Obama if he can still say flatly that Clinton did not jeopardize America's secrets. Obama also guaranteed politics will not influence the outcome of the investigation.

Obama contended she did not jeopardize America's national security, however was "careless" in terms of managing e-mails that she has owned. Obama said the scandal needs to be put in "perspective" as Clinton "served her country" and did an outstanding job.

"Here's what I know," Obama told Wallace. "Hillary Clinton was an outstanding Secretary of State. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy." [....]

We contrast that with Guccifer's account. Guccifer is the hacker who revealed Hillary's private server to the world.

Will Guccifer Upend Hillary?

After several years of incarceration in his native Romania, Marcel Lazar Lehel, aka Guccifer, has finally arrived this week in Alexandria, Virginia, to face nine charges of computer hacking. Guccifer, it will be recalled, is the one who revealed the presence of Hillary Clinton's private server through his hacking of Sidney Blumenthal's email account.

Catherine Herridge and Pamela K. Browne of Fox point out the interesting timing of his extradition:

Romanian media have reported the [FBI] request came on or about Dec. 29, 2015. That would have been shortly after the intelligence community’s identification of emails beyond “top secret” on Clinton’s personal server, which became public in mid-January.
The extradition of Lehel may be tied in closely to the unraveling of the Hillary email conundrum. He claims to have secreted as yet undisclosed Clinton documents "in the cloud." He recalls having spent hours reading them and then going "gardening."

I have no idea how this will all play out, but what I have found truly fascinating is the nature of Guccifer himself and the extraordinary simplicity of his hacking exploits. This man is no genius computer scientist of the type we might find at MIT or the Technion, but rather something of an idiot savant with a touch of paranoia.

A compelling 2013 prison interview with Lehel by fellow Romaniann Matei Rosca, a writer now apparently living in London, shows how the hacker -- who has no education beyond high school -- used no more than educated guess work to break into the email accounts of major American political leaders. It also shows those leaders to be, bluntly, nitwits in their use of cybersecurity.

If a random hacker got into these emails, what chance is there that the Russians and Chinese haven't do so as well?

And one wonders -- what possible law has this man broken that leads to his extradition to face the fury of the Obama White House? Recall how Hillary blames a video for the Benghazi incident. The maker of that video was taken out of his house in the middle of the night, and jailed for a year on a pretext.

It reminds one of the ancien regime in France, before the revolution.
