There was a charter challenge and Bill 101 was deemed unconstitutional.

The Quebec government used the notwithstanding clause though so the law still stands (and they have to re-invoke it every 5 years to keep the law on the books).

If you read the NP article you will see that this has nothing to do with bill 101 or even Quebec.
It also shows how sec 1 of Trudeau's charter can be used to take away your rights even when protected by other sections.

I actually live in the area of this bylaw. I'm not impressed by how many French-only signs have popped up lately despite the bilingual requirement, including signs posted by the municipality itself.
